The best beaches in Tenerife
Tenerife is very close to the coast of Africa and is therefore surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.
The coast of Tenerife has an extension of 67.14 kilometres, which is represented by beaches. In the north of the island you will find black volcanic sand beaches, while in the south, you will find fine golden sandy beaches surrounded by palm trees, in Tenerife there are beaches for all tastes.
The average annual temperature of the island is 22 ºC and the average water temperature of the beaches in summer is between 18°C and 24°C in general, so you can enjoy the most beautiful beaches of Tenerife all year round. In winter the water may be too cold for swimming, but you will always have the option of sunbathing.

El Bollullo Beach
This beautiful volcanic beach of fine black sand is surrounded by banana trees, in the heart of the Orotava Valley.
It is one of those corners of the island of Tenerife that is little known to tourists, but which has preserved its wild landscape.
The swell at El Bollullo beach is usually quite strong, making it dangerous for swimming and perfect for surfers.
Benijo Beach
Another of the beaches in the north of Tenerife which is among our favourites is the Benijo Beach, located in the Anaga Country Park.
Its landscape is magical with its volcanic rocky outcrops, surrounded by vegetation and impressive cliffs.
It is said that from here you can see the most beautiful sunsets in Tenerife. You can’t miss it!

Castro Beach
In the coast of the municipality of Los Realejos, in particular in the protected landscape of the Rambla De Castro you will find this wonderful unspoilt beach.
It is a small, lonely beach of black sand and pebbles, surrounded by palm trees and with freshwater waterfalls flowing down the volcanic rocks that surround it.
To get there, you will have to follow a path that starts at the San Pedro viewpoint and walk for about 20 minutes.

Los Roques Beach
Very close to the Castro Beach is another of the best beaches of Tenerife, los Roques, Famous as its name indicates for the Roques that bathe the sea water. In order to appreciate the arc that erosion has formed in these volcanic formations, it is recommended to go when the tide is low.
It is a beach with strong waves, so it is best not to stray far from the shore. In fact we visited in January and it was closed for security.
Llegar a ella es muy sencillo, basta con poner el el google maps el hotel Maritim y allí la encontraréis. Desde esta playa comienza el sendero que acaba en el Mirador De San Pedro, aunque es un trayecto de 4,5 km.

Las Teresitas
One of the most beautiful beaches of Tenerife and one of the most beloved by the people of Tenerife is the Las Teresitas Beach.
Its golden sand was brought from the Sahara; it took no less than 270,000 tonnes!
There you will find a lot of services and, moreover, it is only a few kilometres away from the city centre Santa Cruz de Tenerife so that is a perfect beach to spend the day.

Tamadite Beach
Tamadite is one of those paradisiacal beaches which can only be reached after a long hiking route.
Its difficult accessibility has made it one of the most difficult Tenerife’s most unspoilt beaches. To get there, you will have to go to the Taganana village (in the heart of the Anaga rural park) and walk 5 kilometres and back.
We would like to warn you that the path is not easy, as there are quite a few kilometres and some sections are quite steep, so it is only suitable for sportsmen and women.

If there is one thing that has made this Tenerife beach are the impressive Los Gigantes cliffs surrounding it. It is from here that you can appreciate its magnitude.

El Medano Beach
This beach is famous for hosting several windsurfing and kitesurfing championships., because of the strong wind that usually blows there.
It is located at the foot of the Montaña Roja mountain in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, at the foot of the Montaña Roja south of Tenerife.
The beach has two areas, the one closer to the village has calmer waters and has all the services, so it is perfect for families. The area closer to the red mountain is ideal for water sports.

On the other side of the Red Mountain lies the La Tejita beach, another golden sandy beach where nudists are quite common.
It is one of the best beaches of Tenerife, It is totally unspoilt and without any buildings around it. Perfect if there is no wind!
Playa del Duque
One of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Tenerife is the Playa del Duque. It is located in Costa Adeje, where the most exclusive resorts on the island are located.
This golden sandy beach is one of the best spots to watch the sunset in Tenerife.
In the Duque beach You will find all the services, as well as a lot of restaurants and boutiques of the most select brands.

Playa de Las Américas
If you are looking to go out partying in Tenerife, the Las Américas beach is the ideal place for this. Thousands of tourists arrive here every year in search of the island’s liveliest spots, sun and fine sand.
Las Americas beach is one of the most famous beaches in Tenerife, together with the los cristianos beach which is the one below. These and other beaches in the south of Tenerife are connected by a long promenade, so if you like walking, you can walk all of them.
Diego Hernandez Beach
Diego Hernández’s beach it is known as the hippie cove, for its environment and for all the people who camp and even live on the surrounding hillsides.
This beach of golden sand and crystal-clear waters is a real wonder. However, the best time to visit is at low tide, because if the tide rises, the beach is practically sandless.
To get there you will have to walk from a path that starts next to the golf course Costa Adeje.
